Many Voices United -- Cultivating Fruitfulness: Passionate Worship Day 8

My earliest positive memory of worship is going to worship with my parents when I was probably about seven years old. I remember it being a significant moment because my parents didn't send me to children's Sunday school. Instead we all went to worship together. At the time it made me feel important; I felt like I was part of something BIG.

My dad pointed out where we were in the service in the bulletin. I remember just being in awe at the call to worship and the unison prayers. We were part of a large church, and when the congregation spoke together at these times, it was awesome! I still long for and am moved by hearing people raise their voices to God united as one voice. To me that is what the church is.

I think that God's intentions for worship are:
  1. to bring people together in the presence of God,
  2. to provide the opportunity to be transformed by God through sharing prayer, songs, and Scriptures and their interpretations,
  3. to praise God and give thanks to God and in doing so to remember that we are not God.
