The Back Door/Side Door Problem -- Cultivating Fruitfulness - Day 19

I am just going to write honestly here: I think that by and large our side doors are closed which means that in many ways our back door is wide open.

How would we answer these questions?

1. When was the last time someone new joined your small group or Sunday school class?
2. When was the last time someone was specifically invited to join you group or class?
3. How many of our first time worshippers return to become second-time worshippers? How many join the church? How many are active in a small group before they join the church?

We need to get better at inviting people to join our ministries and become parts of our groups. A bulletin announcement is not enough. A pulpit announcement won't do it. A newsletter article won't suffice.

People need personal invitations not only to attend worship but to get involved beyond worship. Are your side doors open? Who will you invite to your small groups?
